Personnel must be trained, and certain precautions taken before using Crus/Aid 250 as a plastic purge for injection molding or extrusion.
Crus/Aid 250 becomes a liquid at 150° F. Cardboard or other shielding material should be utilized to cover all exits of the equipment. Personnel should be trained in handling hot liquid at elevated temperatures and pressures.
If you are unsure of the exact safety precautions, do not attempt to use Crus/Aid 250 without contacting us.
Crus-Aid 250 is a purge product used in cleaning plastic processing equipment. The commercial introduction of CA250 purge was in 1974 after trialing and testing on commercial equipment for upwards of 10 years. These 50 years have witnessed the use by sheet extrusion, profile extrusion, pipe extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, master batch compounding of color, rubber fillers, and additives. Equipment manufactures, as well as polymer producers, also rely on both CA250 and CA300 as well as recommend these products to their customers, the converter.
Many customers utilize CA250 in preventive maintenance programs. Whenever a machine is going to be shut down for the weekend, or any extended downtime, the extruder is purged. CA250 in powder/flake form melts at about 150° F, and contains neither abrasives nor chlorides that can damage flow surfaces. CA250 works by melting and becoming a super lubricant that has the ability to release molten plastic from metal surfaces. CA250 will release plastic from metal, but will not remove stains. The cost to purge a 3-6 inch extruder is about 1-2 pounds of CA250 (about $8 - $16 plus down time is very short).

Crus/Aid 300 is a polishing pad used to remove stains from flow surfaces. The introduction of CA300 in 1983 was to fulfill the need to safely polish highly polished flow surfaces by field operators. CA300 incorporates the purge material (CA250) with an abrasive in a slurry that is then impregnated into open cell foam. This hardened polish pad will begin to melt at about 250° F, releasing the cleaning ability of the CA250 as well as abrasive that is about one half micron in size. This novel pad is designed to polish superficial scratches and stains in die lips and other flow surfaces. This polishing pad contains no chlorides (only CA250), very fine and controlled sized abrasive within the foam pad.
